My Computer Lost

When I click on "My Computer" I just get the flashlight. It does not show
the drives and removeable media. Is there a way to restore or remap this?

When done you must go to Windows Update and reapply all the updates.

If I am going to do this and loose my settings, wouldn't it be simpler to do
a clean install. I have not done a clean install on this system in over a
year.

You shouldn't loose your settings nor installed programs (but you must always backup your personal files), you'll loose Windows Update hotfixes and you must then go to Windows Update.
