Lost Icons in Device Manager

I seem to have lost the icons/file names in my Divice Manager program. All I
get is a blank window. Also, It takes a long time to get Windows Explorer to
open My Computer. I 3 HD and 1 cd/dvd. I get the little "flashlight" looking
for awile and and then I finally see the icons for the disks, not what is on
the drive. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I am running XP Pro/SP3.
