My Briefcase quit working... HELP

I'm running Xp pro and have developed a problem with My Briefcase. In the
past I've been using a memory stick, that I have a Briefcase on it, which
I've put folders with files into it off my desktop computer. Then I would
use the memory stick on a laptop to work on files, and at a later time sync
the memory stick briefcase with the files on the desktop computer. It has
all worked flawlessly until today. Now if I try to move a folder with files
in it, on to the memory stick briefcase it will put the folder into the
briefcase but there will be no files in the folder. (If I make a copy of the
folder and place on the memory stick it will put the folder with files on it
with out a problem, but NOT in the briefcase)

At first I thought the memory stick was bad so I tried a new memory stick
and it does the same thing. I also tried the old memory stick on 3 different
computers and it would easily transfer a folder with all the contents into
the memory stick briefcase. So I would guess that the memory stick is not
the problem.

I've also made new briefcases in the memory stick and still have the problem
of a folder with no contents.

I then tried to move a folder from My Documents into My Briefcase on the
desktop of my desktop computer with the same results as the memory stick, a
folder with no contents.

It appears that for some reason the desktop computer does not want to work
anymore with the Briefcase. If anyone would have some help on this problem
please reply. I used the My Briefcase everyday and would like to continue
it's use..........

I would create a new briefcase folder on the desktop, and transfer the old
briefcase files into it.

Check the 'bytes used' size of the stick before and after you copy a folder
of known size to it. They may be there, but unseen for some reason, or they
may be failing to copy at all.
