My bosses attachments open up scrambled and garbled

MWhen my boss trys to open her email attachments, she says they open up
scrambled and garbled. She also says she can not open it even if she saves
it. Here are her exact words:

" I am having a heck of a time opening attachments. I get a bunch of
scramble and cannot open even if I save the document. Help!"

Anything I can do? I am not an email expert.

It's nice to hear her exact words but it would help a lot more to know some
details involved here. For instance;
Which file type are we talking about?
Which application does she opens it with?
Does it apply to all attachments or just this single one (or type)?
Which version of Outlook are we talking about?
Which mail account type are you using?

I am gathering that information from her now. She is remote from me. I should
have compiled the info the first time. Thanks for you help and understanding.
