Well if anyone out there needs a good laugh you got too here this. One of
the owners of the company I work for called me into his office to ask me,
get this, what is this screen for. The screen he is talking about is the
screen prior to the logon screen, you know, the one you press CTRL+ALT+DEL
to get to the login screen. He what's me to give him a reason for why this
screen even exist. If there is anyone out there that has an answer for this
please let me know, because I really need to get the monkey off my back. I
have so many other things to do than to screw with this.

It is for security. Sometimes trojan horses can fake the password screen
during sign on so they can get your password. The ctrl-alt-del assures you
that it is the correct password screen when signing on.

Hi!Kenneth!
Pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE before logging on guarantees that the authentic
Windows logon prompt appears. Requiring the use of CTRL+ALT+DELETE
increases security and helps to thwart certain Trojan horse programs.

Tell him it's to ensure the keyboard is properly connected before entering
userid/password. Wouldn't want to enter sensitive data into a keyboard
connected to some other machine, now would he?

Explain to him that you don't work for microsoft and are not privy to
Why they do things.
