My BIOS is Disabled

Hi
Sorry am a bit of a novice trying to teach myself how to fix minor faults on
my computers and save money.
However the problem I have is when I boot the system and raid appears it
tells me that the BIOS is disabled is this normal or is there a way I can
enable the BIOS
The motherboard is a MSI KT4V (MS-6712)
Also although my floppy disc drive is listed in the manager it is not listed
when I click on computer.
Look forward to replys
Thank you

Do you have a RAID set up? If you aren't using RAID (Google RAID if you
don't know) then don't worry about the BIOS message. Your motherboard
supports RAID and you don't have one set up.

As for the floppy drive, I don't know what you mean by "listed in the
manager" but no listed when (I assume) you double-click My Computer. Is
the floppy seen in the BIOS?

Hi Malke
Thanks for the quick response
Yes a raid page comes up on boot up so I will leave that as it is.
The Floppy disk is mentioned as Standard Floppy Disk controler in device
manager and says the device is working. The following items are listed in
Standard Comos.
:prim IDE master ST320022A
:prim IDE slave None
:Sec IDE master CD-R PX
:Sec IDE slave DVD-R D
:Floppy Drive A 1.44 MB 3.1/2
:Floppy Drive B Disabled
The only mention in Advance BIOS regards Floppy is
Floppy Drive swap Disabled
Floppy Drive seek Disabled
tried enable on these drives but still nothing so set everything back as it
was.
Hope this makes sense to you

Leave the floppy swap/seek settings alone. You were only supposed to
find out if the drive was seen in the BIOS. Apparently it is.

The floppy drive controller (that you see in Device Manager) is part of
the motherboard and doesn't refer to the drive itself. If you put a
floppy disk in the drive, is it then seen in My Computer? Do you use a
floppy drive? If you feel you want a floppy drive, replace the one you
have with a known-working one and see what happens.

Hi Again Malke
Changed the floppy drive for one out of my old computer and all is working
thanks a mil.
Can you help me with this one I have a hard drive in my old computer I would
like to put in this one as D drive and if possible to save the data on it.
The old one is NTFS and this one is FAT. Do you think I am aiming to high as
a novice?
I live out in the wilds of Gran Canaria, Spain and to get to a main town to
get anything fixed is a nightmare. Thanks again

Please fix your posting. You are posting under the signature delimiter

I'm glad you got the floppy problem solved. If you want to use your old
drive as a slave that will work fine - make sure you jumper both drives
correctly. However if your present system drive is using the FAT32 file
system, it will not see the slave drive formatted NTFS. You would need
to convert your system drive to NTFS. See this link for information
about that:

Wrong. As long as the OP is running XP, it doesn't matter which FileSystem
(NTFS or FAT32) her present HD has. XP will see the "new" (from old
computer) HD regardless of the FS it is booting from..

Since I never format my XP boxen anything but NTFS I've never had an XP
system running on FAT32 and tried to view an NTFS drive, so I'll take
your word for it.
