must reactivate with connect laptop to docking station

When I connect my Dell laptop that I upgraded from win98
to xppro, it prompts me to reactivate. The docking
station has a memory card reader, a dvdrom drive, a
floppy drive and a usb printer and scanner, and a network
card. Is this the default winxp behavior? Is there a
legal way to fix this or a setting that I am missing so
it knows that this is the same computer. If this is
default behavior then is just another reason to hate
windows activation and an anoyance.

Create 2 hardware profiles, one for the docking station and one standalone,
activate both, and you'll be all set - just choose the correct hardware
profile for each situation when booting, otherwise you'll get the activation
prompt again.
