Must log in on mailserver every 5 sec - not server problem

I must log in on mailserver every 5 sec - not server problem according to the
company that hosts my mail. This is very annoying.

I have had a POP3 account without problems for a long time. Now the hosting
company decided to move the account to another server, so I had to create a
new account in Outlook. This time I chose to create an Imap account so I can
read mails also from my web browser when at clients.

I open my MS Outlook and after about 5 sec I am requested to log in at the
mail server. This keeps asking every 5 seconds. If I don't log in I will not
recieve any more mails. It does not help to click in the button saying
"Remember my password..".

Since the hosting company says that this must be a problem in Outlook (which
they can't help me with) I am now hopelessly in need of your help.

Anyone?

Hi Eva,

Please follow these,
Configure the same account in outlook express- to narrow down the issue for better understanding of the problem.
check for security settings in web mail , outlook only creates a mirror image of your e-mail client . ( this is how HTTP e-mails work).

Reply with results.

Hello Raj,

I found no security settings in my web mail at all.
I configured Outlook Express and it worked fine, so at least we now know it
ought to be a problem in MS Outlook then I guess...

Any more ideas on what the problem might be?

I appreciate all your help!

I have now tried everything in that link except starting in a safe mode... I
went to Start/Run but after that the computer wanted a filename not only
"outlook.exe/safe". It didn't help to choose the actual "outlook.exe"-file
and then adding "/safe" at the end either.

I tried:
- Create a new Outlook profile
- Back up your registry and remove the user account information from the
"Protected Storage System Provider" subkey. Then, reenter your password
options.

I've also tried to re-install Outlook but it didn't solve the problem either.

Nothing seems to help... I'm desperate (I have an advertising agency and
through the basic web mail I can only send files up to 2 MB).

Heeelp!

You must put a space between "outlook.exe" and "/safe"

I solved it!!!!

I went to Tools/E-mail accounts (PS... I am translating from Swedish so if I
don't guess the English menu titles right.. well, sorry!) Change your e-mail
accounts. Select the account and click Change. Under More options/Advanced
you can adjust the server time out time to be long or short. Mine was at 1
minute before. I changed it to 3 minutes and Voila! I no longer have to keep
entering my password every 5 seconds!

Thank you! I think we posted out replies at the same time. I will make a note
of this for next time.

Thank you for your reply!

A happy Outlook user with a smile on her face....
