Using Windows Vista Home Basic, Outlook 2007. Until 2 days ago everything
configured fine & working. Now every scheduled send and receive downloads
every email from server for last 6 mths everytime it sends and receives,
therefore in a day 15,000 emails 7 of each or more. Also have 2 XP machines
windows 2003 configured same but no problem with these. We leave copies on
hosting servers, have always done (there are 2 servers). 1 server holds 1
address 1 holds 3 addresses. Both servers are downloading everytime so must
be machine. Have removed/reinstalled e-mail accounts but still same problem.
Windows updates done today. Windows updates off when problem began.
Virus scanned nothing found, config checked makes no difference.
What could have started or caused this? Help!

Hmm... I haven't seen this in a long time, and when I did it was in Outlook
Express. But when I have seen it the root cause was having more than one
POP3 account specified, and one (or more) of them was configured to leave
mail on the server and at least one was not. This appeared to confused the
mail client as it saw the messages and thought they were "new" every time.

Another thing would be to check your antivirus software. If it has any mail
integration on incoming/outgoing mail, try disabling it and see if the
problem persists. In some cases people have had to uninstall the product
entirely to disable it, but make sure you have the means of reinstalling it
before you try to do so.
