The "well informed" will also tell you that Win98, WinMe, Win2K to SP4,
WinXP with no service pack to SP 2 are all just as secure as each other if
you have a good firewall, antivirus software and spyware immunisers and
scanners. Don't go to porn or crack code sites, don't open the
GiveMeAVirus.exe file that comes with an email titled, "Here's the file you
wanted". SP2 does not equate to security, otherwise everyone with a previous
version of Windows would be at high risk. Bollocks!

I do, if I purchased an OS that needed fixing, I'd want it fixed pronto.

: But, we don't know why his friend offered this advice.

And will you eat the proverbial humble pie if the OP does, and his whole
machine turns to rot as a result of him doing so Bruce? Are you willing to
pick up the posts he may send to help fix it???

And that pic has my knee hurting just thinking about the landing!

Nah. :)

I only had 36 parachute jumps at the time of that jump and the landing
area at New River Gorge is very, very small, so I landed in the river.

<shivers> It was cold that year ('97). I 'bout froze my...yes, well, I
was freezing...but it was a very soft, splashy landing. :)

What I learned the year after is that the real danger lies in taking a
long delay on a wet canopy.

Oh, my aching neck.

I think that's a different issue.

I'm quite confident that the OP'd be far better off with SP2 than
without it.
