Multiple iexplorer.exe on task manager

I had upgraged my internet explorer 8 and now i went back to version 7 but
the iexplore processes on my task manager keep piling up and take up my
memory. How do I solve this issue?

How did you "went back to Internet Explorer 7"?

Do NOT use System Restore to remove/uninstall IE8 or any other application!!

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running
in the background when you installed and/or "went back to" IE7?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
