Multiple fax devices

I work for a company that sends out a number of faxes during the day to
our providers. I was wondering if anyone can offer advice, answer
questions or provide stories of someone else running a similar setup.

Our current setup is we have 4 windows XP boxes, running the microsoft
fax service. This is managed programatically from a VB app.

I've read that the Fax Service on Windows 2003 can handle multiple fax
devices.

Will it be possible to run a windows 2003 server box, running the fax
service with multiple USB modems and having the VB app programatically
enter jobs to the queue so that more than one fax can be sent at one
time?

Would I have to specify a device in the VB6 app or will the fax service
just send the fax through the next available device?

I've googled around and while Microsoft say the fax service supports
multiple devices, it doesn't state if it can send multiple faxes at the
same time and I can't seem to find anyone having run this kind of set
up to know if it is possible.

Any advice?

I know the shared fax service in SBS will do batch faxes; I hear them
sometimes, all 8 modems dialing at once...

device selection is automatic, users just print to fax printer (or use
outlook to send it) and the service uses available devices

Correct, when there are multiple devices, there can be multiple fax
transmissions one on each device going on simultaneously. One device can be
receiving fax while the other is sending a fax. If you have any specific
questions this is the place to ask them. All the best.
