I have a problem that i have seen multiple times on these boards but no solutions given have helped. Whenever I attempt to go to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032633/?ta=y (specifically, the msnbc front page) the computer gets about 2/3rds done loading before freezing completely, and i am forced to end task. Ive tried to update windows and use spyware removal programs but neither of these work. This occurs on windows xp home edition using IE 6. Thank you for any help you can provide

There are some ads that look like they use Flash or Java. Try installing
Sun Java from http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp/ and the latest version
of Flash from www.macromedia.com. This is just a guess on my part,
because I don't see anything particularly weird on that page and my
Mozilla in Linux doesn't have any problem with it. Maybe someone else
can check it for you with IE. I have heard that there was a problem
with some sites and the latest version of Flash, so if you already have
the latest version, maybe that's it.

Good luck,

I tried to do both of these, and still the page will not fully load, but i still susspect it may be rooted in some of the things you mentioned. I checked where it jammed up and it seems to always fail when it attempts to "download data http://msnbcmedia.com/i/nm/nm.js..." and i skimmed the source code of the site for a repeat of that item and found it in the following - "nm_data('nm_nm','http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/nm/nm.js');nm_local()" i am not exceptionally literate with html so i am not sure what it means, but i am hoping this helps someone find an answer, thank you for all your hel

The "js" means Java, so a) try uninstalling-reinstalling Java; b) check
with the webmaster to see if they know what is jamming you up. Chances
are if their code is bad, others have that problem, too.
