msn Messenger crashing at night

both my contact and I run almost identical systems..but my contact runs a
laptop from 5 am in the morning to about 7pm at night its fine,, but after
that my voice to them is either garbled and sometimes the picture is very
badly strobed. We both run Microsoft v 3000 cams and bringing up task manager
shows less than normal use of cpu and memory. MSN says some garbage about "
TRAFFIC "..I still say its a routing problem..NOT our computers..Im in bc
Canada and my contact is in Illinois..both run xp home editiion..and are
current with all updates..nothing runs at the time but msn messenger..and
both use 8,1...tried 8.5..beta and it SUCKS. any suggestions on improving
performance will be greatly appreciated.. this condition only happens at
night from around 7 pm to about 4 am pst daily
