MSN Gaming Zone problems (and others!).

I cannot access the internet through various programs.
One example is I cannot download the MSN Gaming zone
executables. One day my access to the Zone no longer
worked, and I tried re-installing it and now I cannot do
that. I get the followed error pop-up:

Failed to download
http://fdl.msn.com/zone/datafiles/zone.za_

Also, other programs I cannot now use to access the
internet: Windows Media Player (version 9) now cannot
get disk information from the internet. Other third-
party programs that access the internet no longer work
(e.g. Pokerstars.com). My normal internet explorer works
fine - the problem appears to be when accessing the
internet via a different program.

I've scoured this site and haven't gotten anywhere. My
only alternative is to reload XP and everything else -
but I wanted to try this first to avoid that pain!!

Hi Bill P.,

I'm not sure I can help you with your Media Player issues,
however I can offer some advice for the Zone.com problem.

For Failed to Download/Extract File Errors Try the steps at:
http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/EnterRooms.html#ftd

That should work provided you haven't installed a 3rd party
firewall which is blocking downloads, and your settings are
correct.

Use these Internet Explorer Settings to connect to Zone.com: http://www3.sympatico.ca/nibblesnbits/EnterRooms.html#IE
