msinfo32 problems and other exe file issues

i run dxdiag and the directdraw/3d/sound tests everything works fine. im
doing this for tech support on a game and they tell me to use msinfo from the
'more help' tab. i click it nothing happens, double click the file in
explorer nothing happens, so finally i try it from 'run' again nothing. i
then tried several switch commands nothing works except /?(help). which
causes a window to very briefly flash on screen.

i searched the this forum for help and found two options. the first finding
msinfo32.inf to reinstall the msinfo32.exe from my cd i did this and it
changed nothing. i then downloaded a vb script, suggested in another thread
for fixing msinfo problems, its supposed to restore a registry entry but this
didnt fix my problem either.

so anyone have any ideas on whats wrong and how to fix it?

im running windows xp home sp1 on an alienware pc. p4 3.0, 2gig ram, ati
9800xt, sb audigy 2 zs. windows and all drivers are up to date with the
exception of service pack 2.

You may or may not be able to fix this. I can't fix mine.

It used to work but a Windows Critical Update screwed it up.
I don't know which CU is the culprit. Doesn't matter, it's screwed up.

This works. It's what I use.
