WORK! I cannot uninstall previous version, and it makes me upset.
Consequently, I cannot update my Defender.
Can U give me the uninstallation file? I don't know how and when it
diseppeared ...
I would appreciate it!

Can I counsel patience? Stay cool for a little bit--this is being looked at
hard, and you could break things worse by trying other remedies.

That said, I'd make certain you are on 1.1.1347.0 (see top number in help,
about) If you are not, go to the download center and get the new code.

If you are, the next thing I would try is using the Windows Installer
cleanup tool (google on that name) to remove just Windows Defender
Signatures, and then go to Windows Update and re-try the update.

Have you tried Windows Update in your current condition> What error
messages do you get?

Thanx for the quick reply, I reinstalled Defender, with Definition
File:1.0.0.0.
So I got back to the beginning. Update doesn't work.It says "Defender was
unable to complete update".

Can you follow the steps in: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918355
I would be curious if you had any Windows Update errors which are preventing
updating.

Thanks Bill and Steve!
Success! With Cleanup Utility I was able to remove former signature
versions, and afterwards it was a clean sweep.
So 1.14.1410.10 version works.
I use WinDef for on-demand scan for the time being until "System Restore
Points"-problem is solved (which will be soon I guess).
Once again, Your help is most appreciated!
Thanks:
Ivan

I've seen one report that the excessive restore points problem was already
solved for this particular user. I'd be interested in hearing whether
that's the case for you as well.

Success! With Cleanup Utility ...

I've a similar problem, but it didn't help.
Windows defender gives error 0x800b0003 :
"Windows Defender was unable to complete the update: 0x800b0003. The form
specified for the subject is not one supported or known by the specific trust
provider."
Except for the nonexistent click option:
"Click Check for Updates on the Windows Defender beta 2 home page."

Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C} doesn't seem to do anything,
It flashes some message for about 1/10,000 of a sec followed by this:
"This action is only valid for products that are currently installed"

None of these helped either
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822798
despite many uninstall/reinstall, windows update, microsoft update, etc...

So I'm still running on 1.0.0.0 definitions, which curiously classify
Microsoft IE as "Not yet classified" in Software Explorer module of WD.
