Msiexec.exe does not work.

My version of Defender is, at the moment, 64 days out of date. I have tried
all the fixes I have found here including this:
MsiExec.exe /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}

The result here is that it cannot find AS_Sig.exe - even if I lead it to it
by the nose!!! It still says it cannot find it. I have admistrator rights and
I installed Defender without any problem. Update refuses to have any effect.
I have deleted the programme about 3 times, cleaned the registry of anything
to do with Defender and still no luck.

I hope Microsoft can make this work, I understand it is a part of "Vista",
perhaps it is why Vista is so late !!!!!!!!

Can you explain more:

"update refuses to have any effect."

What happens when you go to Windows Update and do an express scan?

Are you offered any critical updates? Are Defender signatures among them?

I had the update problem, and just did the MsiExec.exe /x
{A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C} just now without any problems. it
worked great.
