Hi,
When I try to open the tools in MSIE 7, it crashes. I tried to uninstall, but do not see
MSIE7 in the add/remove folder.

How do I remove MSIE7.

Thanks,

In add/remove programs make sure show updates at the top is checked and it
should show up then.

Hi,
I checked the update box. Still does not show up. The error message is looking for
PSAPI.DLL. A search shows it in a number of folders. The latest version is dated
2/16/2005. Older versions are shown in \system and\system32.

Is there a later version that needs to be installed?

Thanks,

Error message after installing IE 7
Q. I recently upgraded to Internet Explorer 7.0 with some trepidation and
began receiving the following message on startup:

"The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in
the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL"

I don't know if the two are correlated and I haven't noticed any loss of
functionality. What is the significance of the message?

A. As it turns out, the two events are indeed correlated. As is the case
with any beta program, there are bound to be bugs and it looks like you
found one.

There is an older version of PSAPI.DLL on your system that is interfering
with the operation of Internet Explorer 7.

The good news is that you need not remove IE 7 to resolve the problem.

Search your hard drive for any occurrence of the file PSAPI.DLL and rename
it to PSAPI.DLL.OLD. Once this is complete, reboot your computer and the
error message will be gone.

This DLL is part of Motive Smart Bridge and is installed by some DSL
Internet provider's like Verizon. It is a non-essential, diagnostic software
I have never seen used by any ISP and you will not lose any functionality by
renaming this file.

If for some reason you do see a problem, you can change the file(s) back to
their original name and remove IE 7 until they get the bugs worked out. That
is the beauty of renaming a file rather than deleting it. It gives you time
to determine whether or not you really need the file at all.
