Any1 ever xpeerIence a LOGON that begins, but immediatly fails, & log's you
off??
__________ ___________ _____________
Frustrating doesn't fully describe my issue. After lots of reviewing, from
online sources and WinXP InsideOut, it's accurate to assume that the first 5
out of 6 phases of the Windows XP startup sequence are successful; Thus
eliminating any failure with NTLDR, Boot.ini, Ntdetect.com, Ntoskrnl.exe, HAL
& SYSTEM Code being the cause of my problem.____________ ______________

Instead, the startup process successfully reaches the "Welcome Screen" with
all local users names and pic's, and awaits logon. As I complete typing out
my password, the OS authenticates me, then begins logon phase. The other
users on the welcome screen fade away, my user picture moves center screen,
displays the message "Windows Is loading your Personal Settings", the
symphonic Windows Logon wav plays out,~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>{screeeeech!} B U T
THEN..... before my desktop even begins to load- I mean the blue welcome
screen hasn't even left yet, I hear that notorious Windows Logoff wav sound
play! Even more disturbing, the message switches to the Logoff default,
something like, "Saving your Personal Settings"... ________________

Just as fast as my password is authenticated, and my user profile begins to
load, the process haults then I'm being logged off without haste. Cant logon
with any local user. NO error messages. No major system changes. Same deal
with SAFEMODE= Begins logon phase, then immediatly halts, logs off. My
Welcome Screen user picture rises top screen, then falls back to center.
It's just as if I had finished my session and successfully logged off. This
also means that the registry key defining the LastKnownGood control set was
updated, destroying that blanket of protection & eliminating rescue. MY

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

What possible MsGina.dll or Winlogon.exe failure/corruption could lead to a
successful logon then an immediate successful logoff - but without ever
loading a desktop??? No error messages, no problem indications. Just like
any normal session - except my desktop never gets to load.

Thanks to anyone who takes their time to read this; & double thanks if you
decide to respond :D

Hi CWH,

This might be an "userinit" issue. Check the Userinint value data in the
registry.

More details at:

You cannot log on to Windows XP after you remove Wsaupdater.exe:
