logon problems

every time I try to logon to windows xp my computer logons on then
immediately logs off returning to the logon screen. Any ideas?
 
Do you regularly scan your PC with up to date anti virus and malware
programs? If not, an infection could be the cause. Can you start the PC in
safe mode?
