MSAS - guessing

D

D@annyBoy

I have not encounter a lot of the problems being posted here which leads to
guess that MSAS is currently being tested at the test labs using WinXP SP2.

If you are not running WinXP with SP2, I suggest that you uninstall MSAS, go
to Windows update to get all the SP2 and all recent patches (before 12
April), disable antivirus and firewall, reinstall MSAS, reboot and see
whether you still have previous problems.

For those running WinXP SP2 with problems, I suggest you keeping posting the
problems with full details. When posting including your OS, including a
step by step on how the problem was encountered, may help those at the test
labs to try and reproduce the problem. The choice is yours. No use posting
"I have problems in running MSAS" without full details.

As a tester of software, I always try to break my system, but I am being
unable to do so this time. If your system breakdowns and if you can provide
detailed notes, many users will thank you including those testers at MS.

Have you tried posting your problems
not related to MS AntiSpyware to
news://msnews.microsoft.com

I agree with posting operating system details, because its obvious that
Microsoft AntiSpyware operates uniquely on different versions of Windows,
whether 2000 SP3/4 or XP SP1, RTM or SP2.

Good advice DannyBoy. I've found that many people are intimidated by SP2
and/or have had a problem installing it. I'm running this pro system at the
moment which has been up since before the beta days of SP2 without problems.
I also installed, ran and then uninstalled MSAS without problems. I often
test betas but rarely leave them resident on my systems.

Of course (and I have to say this) one could get *free* linux and avoid all
these problems. :)

Nope........ this weekend I tried Mandrake with this
result.............

http://hem.bredband.net/b288305/mandrake.jpg

Install Mandrake specifying that it should not launch x on booting
(otherwise it tries and VMWare shows the 4 screens and you cannot read what
you are doing).
log in as root.
Run the xf86cfg command to start xconfig.
Run the startx command to get into KDE.
Reboot.
After the rebooting log in as normal user and startx again.

Or............Install Mandrake on a clean partition or separate hard
drive.........
Or.........Download Knoppix......burn to CD and run from the CD in your
Windows box. It will recognize all your hardware. It will not effect your
Windows system at all. And it will get you familiar with an excellent
(Debian) Linux system. :)

You own a Tablet Plun? Cool! I plan on buying one, but I'm holding off until
the price drops to around 1,400 to 1,500 range. I need something that is not
going to be obselete in 2 years with at least 512MBs of Ram and a good
processor Centrino, 1.4 to 1.6 Ghz. Brands I am mostly interested are either
Toshiba, Acer or Gateway and it most retain the Laptop form factor.

I have the Xandros 3.0 Open Circulation Edition running at work and it works
quite well. Of course, Linux still won't run any of the business apps we
use but someday maybe!

I still think someday we will see MSLinux.

I know some lurkers who are not liking that suggestion!
