MS Paint problems

Have been struggling for months with MS Paint opening painfully slowly. If I
open now it takes at least 10 minutes to open hard drive goes mad and every
application is affected you may as well go and make dinner while it sorts
itself out.

Then over the past couple of weeks Office Picture Manager started to do the
same thing but after looking at this forum found that by deleting the
associated .cag file hey presto its back to normal.

Is the problem the same in MS paint and if so where do I find its associated
catalogue file?

Your problem can be the cause of many things:
1- Not enough Disk Space
2- Not enough/Bad RAM
3- Bad/Damaged Applications
4- Blowated and infected system with malware and viruse and you need to do
your house cleaning!

Run a thorough scan by doing the following steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Tabs:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

MS Paint doesn't have catalog files.

Open Paint up, then select Image, Attributes.
You probably have it set too large. Cut it down to the size you want,
e.g. 640 x 480 pixels or less. The smaller you have it, the faster it
will load. It will remember that setting until you change it again.

Hi...Similar problems.

Was working on a rather large bmp file in paint, tried to save, received the
error message about running out of space, after several unsuccessful
machinations, the application froze and I had to forcibly turn off my
computer. Once turned back on, the file is gone...completely gone. No
previous versions of it (saved several times before at other times), nothing.

I was able to find a shortcut to it in system files at the time of the
problem, however it leads to a target that is no longer there. Is the file
permanently lost? Anyway to retrieve it? I'd even be happier with a
previous version of it.

If you were working on the original and have no backups and attempted to
overwrite the original and crashed it due to lack of space, then you
probably are out of luck. You could try a file undelete program, but I'm
betting the the partial overwrite has pretty much ruled that out as
being successful.
