MS Fingerprint reader and XP Pro

Hello,

I have the MS fingerprint reader hooked up to a XP Pro machine. I have the
machine set up so that a single user is always logged in automaticaly. I
have registered my finger print and the device works. Now I would like for
my wife to use the fingerprint reader as well. This is where I run into
problems. It appears that my fingerprint is attached to the XP user ID we
are using and she can't register her finger print without creating a new user
id for Windows XP, is that true? I would prefer that the fingerprint
reader's driver recognize the passwords that belong to a given finger print
and bring those up/fill them in at the relevant web site. Is that possible?

Thank you,

Mike

I don't have direct experience with this hardware but what you describe is
inline with the way user IDs are assigned in Windows XP. Just like if you
where using 2 MS passport IDs they would have to be assigned to 2 different
user accounts in Windows XP so that Windows can maintain separate sets of
settings (such as passwords and Web site favorites) for each user.

Each Windows user account has only one password store. When you visit a web
site and swipe your finger, that action is really opening the password store
for your account and providing the correct password for that site.

To have multiple password stores, you'll need to start using multiple user
accounts.
