MPG probs

Hi Group,

I cannot get mpgs to run on this

I have a brand new Samsung X20 laptop with Windows XP home edition.

I am running ppt 2003 and the problem is that it won't run an MPG that runs
perfectly well on another machine. All other ppt features seem fine - it had
a full install.

Any thoughts?

Yours perplexed..

It's a file the client gave me that runs fine other laptops.

Any MPG I try makes a flashing boxy crud effect and locks up the computer.

AVIs are fine!

Any help appreciated.

The files play ok in media player!

Is that the old media player (start > run > mplay32 on windows xp)

or the fancy skinnable one ?

It's the old one that's important for powerpoint.

Things I'd try....

updating the graphics card drivers for the laptop

installing the latest version of directx

installing the skinnable media player (just incase something like quicktime
or realplayer has recently been installed)

Hi
thanks for the suggestions,

I have run the mpgs in the old mplay32 (nice to see an old friend) - Fine
( went to ppttools faq for that)

Had already re-installed directx

I have recently installed quicktime v7 - do you think it may be this giving
ppt a prob?

Can I simply uninstall quicktime?

uninstalling quicktime hasn't worked.

Doubly annoying another x20 laptop is working good as gold.

Raaaaah!
