wmvs and mpgs not playing in PPT 2003

I posted this yesterday but now I can't find it so I apologize in advance.

I am unable to play wmv's and mpg's in PPt 2003. Some of these are new but
some used to work, so I'm puzzled. The only thing I've been able to get to
play is an uncompressed avi which is huge so it plays very slowly. The wmv I
created from an uncompressed avi using windows moviemaker. They play just
fine in windows media player, but when I put them in ppt and put it in show
mode, I see the initial image, but when the video starts all I have is a
black box. I have shortened the file path to as short as possible; sitting at
the top of my hard drive, so i know it's not that. I would think that the
codec used by movie maker would be supported by ppt, and the mpg's I'm trying
used to play in PPt 2003.
I am running on a new machine, but it's got a lot more power than waht i
used to have so I don't know why the machine would be a problem. Ideas????

I have not recently installed any other media players.

I went to the playsforcertain site. It did provide some help. I ran the MCI
player and now I'm able to play my old mpg's, but I'm still having difficulty
with the wmv's. They appear to be playing, but only a black box shows, and it
shows for the duration of the video.
Again, I created the wmv from an uncompressed avi in Windows Movie maker.
The uncompressed avi works in ppt, but it's so big it runs too slowly.
Any other ideas?

Have you tried using PFCPro? If not give it a try, it costs nothing during
the two week trial and any presentations you create will work properly after
the trial is finished.

No I haven't. I don't think our IT dept will support it. I will be burning
these ppts to CD for mass distributuion to our dealer network. I just need to
be able to make a wmv created in Windows Moviemaker work in ppt. LOL. Tou
wouldn't think it would be that difficult.

Still unable to play a wmv in ppt slide show mode on my machine. I can double
click the wmv while the ppt is in slide view and it plays, but when I put it
in slide show mode, and play it, it shows a black box. HELP PLEASE.

Problem solved. You won't believe it. I have two monitors and I was pushing
my slide show to the secondary monitor. When I play it on my primary monitor
the wmv works fine. Does anyone know why I can't push the slideshow to a
secondary monitor and have the wmv work?
