avi files playing too fast in Power Point

I have created an avi file of some object rendering on my computer using a
program called Camtasia. I played the avi file in Windows MP and it plays
fine. Then I go and place the avi file into Power Point 2007, it works fine.
I take the exact same file (saved as 2003 format) and try running the power
point presentation (with video file) on another computer running PPT 2007.
Now all of a sudden the video plays through at warp speed (about 15s : 1s).
I take the ppt file and try running it on PPT 2003. Same problem. I even
tried creating new PPT presentations on the respective computers and still
have the same problem. If I go and play the avi files on the respective
computers in WMP, the videos play fine. Could this have something to do with
codecs or is this something wrong with PPT? Would it have anything to do
with Office on some of the machines not being up-to-date? Please help!

Thanks for the help

I already had these problems
You'll need to turn off Windows Sounds to correct the issue while recording
with Camtasia
1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds tab to
bring up the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties dialog.
2. Under Sound scheme select No Sounds from the drop-down menu
Does that help?

Yes, it is the codecs. I suspect you installed a video application and it
installed a codec that does not work well with PowerPoint (the MCI player).
For more information you may want to look at this tutorial.

The "quick fix" for this is to download and reinstall Windows Media Player.
Even though it is not used in PowerPoint, reinstalling it will reset the
codecs and associations on the PC.

An alternative to prevent this in the future and make the video compatible
with all other Windows PCs is to use PFCPro to insert the video.
