video crash with PowerPoint

When I link an mpg video to my slides, it plays fine, until I switch to Slide
Show; then when the slide is shown, the program crashes, and requires
Ctrl-Alt-Delete to exit the program. Same problem on my office computer (XP).
When I run the same file on a computer which only has Outlook 2003 (file
saved as .ppt), it works fine. Hardware acceleration on/off makes no
difference. Anyone have a thought or suggestion?

Thank you. I've gone to the file, downloaded the program, and checked all the
videos (3 are mpg, one is wmv- the latter says "Presence of codec
undetermined" or some such, so I downloaded the codec for WMV3, and was
informed it will work with WMP 7+, but is incompatible with Windows Media
Player 10. Does this give any clue as to the issue I'm experiencing?
