mp3 with Media Player vs Real Audio

Since rebuilding my system I have noticed that my mp3 files will skip (short milisecond segments) using Media Player version 9 but Real Audio will not. It's as if the buffer is getting emptied too fast with Media Player (or the buffer isn't big enough) I have all the latest SP drivers. If anyone has a solution, please contact me at my email address.

solution = WinAmp

WMP is MP3 challenged, and MS has NO incentive to fix it, since
they compete against MP3 with WMA.
