mp3 files

i recently installed winxp pro. when trying to move mp3
files into a new folder, i found that they are no longer
useable. meaning that that they will not play on windows
media player. when clicking on properties it shows for
example 3.34 mb and then when looking at id tag it will
show that there is nothing there. when i copy to a new
folder and then delete from the old folder, the mp3 will
work. does anyone know why i can't move the file rather
than having to copy it. my other operating system would
move files with no problem. thanks for any help you my give.

XP (pro) doesn't immediately move the files to the new folder, but holds
them into a temp folder in the recycle area. When the system is reastarted
the files should be usable. Its a quirk with explorer. Have similar issues
with the wmas and mpegs/avis . Also try cleanup/defrag. The system table
probly needs compacting & tuning. Some files could be saved with double
extensions (like mp3.mp3) if you have extensions visible before the switch
is set in explorer, this is a giveaway.
