Moving a message and then deleting from original inbox

I need to set up a rule to move certain messages from my main inbox to other
subsidiary inboxes--and then delete the original message but NOT the one that
has been moved. In other words I want to "forward" messages from one box to
another without leaving ghost copies behind. Any ideas appreciated.

I'm not using Exchange, just ordinary Outlook '07 with various pop3 email
accounts all feeding into one inbox. I have rules set up to distribute those
emails to various "inboxes" according to content and sender. But the only
option in the rules is to 'move it'. There's no 'forward' options that I can
see.

In what kind of mail environment? With Exchange you can use the redirect
rule.

....and since several of the rules have common features (name of sender, email
address, content words or whatever, I'm ending up with multiples copies of
the same email in various "inboxes" which is a royal pain.

Then forwarding is not the way to go since those "inboxes" are just separate
folders and are not separate accounts.
The "move" action is the way to go and won't create duplicates as long as
you sort your rules and use the "Stop processing rules" action accordingly.
