I am running Windows XP Pro, which I just repaired a little bit ago due to
slowness. I have Media Player 9 and have updated it. I have Explorer 7.
Whenever I open anything in Media Player or any movies like EVTV or You Tube,
right after they start I either lose the sound, or the movie stops.
Sometimes it picks up later. Sometimes it continues to run with no sound.
Everything works fine for a bit. Everything else works fine. Any idea what
to update or repair to fix this problem?

We don’t know what you repaired a "little bit ago"
We don’t know the specs of your Machine at all...............could you clue
us in???
How about your Internet Connection...is it Dial Up ?? DSL ?? Cable??? what
speed is it supposed to be??

You Tube doesn't use Media Player it uses Flash Player........so does EVTV.

I understand EVTV and You Tube use flash player, but this happens in both my
media player and when using those sites with the flash player. All I did was
insert Windows XP and repaired Windows. My internet connection is Cable and
I have 2 gig of memory. I have plenty of speed to run this stuff and in
fact, not too long ago it was running very well.

try running SFC ( system file checker ) from the command line. You will
need your windows installation CD in the CR-Rom. When finished, go to the
windows update site and get all updates, sinced SFC will put you back to
pre-update versions of files, but should at least get you rolling again.

I went to the Start button, clicked on Run and typed SFC. The black box
tried to come up, but it wet off immediately. I tried a couple of times.
Never did get to SFC.

You need to open the Run box and type "command" Enter. Run sfc /scannow in
the black window that open. Just running the sfc in the Run box is not
sufficient.

That worked. Now here is what I got:
/SCANNOW Scans all protected system files immediately.
/SCANONCE Scans all protected system files once at the next boot.
/SCANBOOT Scans all protected system files at every boot.
/Revert Return scan to default setting.
/PURGECACHE Purges the file cache.
/CACHESIZE=x Sets the file cache size.

Now what do I do?

After you repaired windows did you install the updates again?

You need to apply all of the windows update patches and probably update
things like flash player again.
