Movies and Projectors

Hi,

I have Googled, searched and added to threads, but all to no avail!

Ok, I have my laptop set up connected to a projector.

I know how to use dual monitors (extended desktop) or single monitor
(clone). These both work.

When I am in an extended monitor mode, I can get powerpoint to display the
slideshow on the projector whilst the notes appear on the laptop's screen.
This works.

Where it all falls down is if I embed a movie in a slide. These show fine if
I have the displays cloned, but not if I go for a 2-screen setup.

Like I said, I have searched in vain for information on this. Most
information seems to relate to how to set up the two monitors - this I can
do!!!! Not how to get movies working once they are set up - This I can't !!!!

HELP

Can someone either give me simple, step-by-step instructions on how to
configure this, or provide me with a definate "it can't be done" so I can
stop searching? (BTW, if it can't be done, how can I direct my frustration at
PPT developers to get it included in a future release?)

Many thanks, one and all, for reading this!

If Todd's suggestion to change hardware acceleration (dial it back) doesn't
work, then you may need to change the primary and secondary display
designations. There's more info here:

Videos play correctly on computer but not on projector (black box)
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00467.htm

(But this also lists hardware acceleration as the first thing to try.)

Also, check your video settings and see if you have it in "Theater Mode".
(Its an ATI thing..)

Thank you everyone for the responses.

I tried dialing back the acceleration to "none" - to no avail.
When in dual screen mode, I don't get the video on either monitor (although
I do get sound). I don't really want to swap the displays, if I can help it,
because I want to keep my start menu on the laptop screen.
I will check out the "Theatre Mode" thing & report back
