Movie Maker closes unexpectedly

I just reinstalled my XP, and loaded a stand alone copy of movie maker
2.0.3312.0.
I am on sp1.
I have all my movie backup files on a separate hard drive.
I import my .MSWMM files, the timeline will look like it is loading with
images(frames), but no "collection" loads, and no image shows in the player.
I try and click on the timeline images(frames) and movie makes closes...poof
:(

Also, I noticed that I have mulitple copies of moviemk.exe
the main one is C:\Program Files\Movie Maker version 2.0.3312.0. but then
there also is:
C:\WINDOWS\RegisteredPackages\{60BFF50D-FB2C-4498-A577-C9548C390BB9}
version 2.0.3312.0
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 version 1.1.2427.1
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\6ca7b3a8efd5a9b6f87fff395a2eb989
version 2.1.4026.0

could these be causeing a conflict, and either way, can they be safely
deleted?
thanks!!

You need to import the collections from your backup if you made one.
Otherwise its too late and you may have to start from scratch.

Crash on clikcing on timeline is common problem. You need to resolve issues
with codecs.

Go to Papajohn's site and browse through the following sections in
particuar:

www.papajohn.org -> managing -> Collections
To resolve your issues with collections

www.papajohn.org -> Problem solving -> Crashes and Hangs
To resolve your issues about why it closes whn you click on timline.

Also, I noticed that I have mulitple copies of moviemk.exe

Your problem are not caused by these multiple copies. I would suggest do not
worry about those copies. These are valid files, XP would keep normally.
