Mouse wheel

I stupidly updated the BIOS for my Dell Latitude 840 in
order to get the fan to shut up for five minutes. Now my
mouse wheel isn't working. Newest mouse drivers are
installed. Any suggestions anyone?
 
What make of mouse? If it's Microsoft or Logitech try reinstalling the
mouse software.
