Wheel Mouse

I just migrated to a Compaq Laptop that has both stick and touchpad mouses. During the day it is docked and I use a Microsoft PS/2 Wheel Mouse connected to the docking station. I downloaded the Intellipoint software for the mouse, but when you go to use the control panel for the mouse properties, it shows that the mouse is just a regular two button mouse with no wheel and I have no way to control the wheel properties. I have updated the laptop's Bios and have tried everything I can think to get to the wheel mouse properties. The mouse works but doesn't give me wheel scrolling in certain applications. Any ideas?

Did you try it before you used the Intellipoint software? I found with
Windows 98, my mouse wheel worked fine without using the software. The
other possibility could be that you need some updated drivers for it. There
are several sites online where you can download free drivers (and one or two
enterprising ones where they try to make you pay for the privilege).
