Mouse problem

I've been having a problem with my optical mouse. Whenever I click on a
location (for example, while in Microsoft Word) in a middle of a paragraph to
edit something, the cursor sometimes "jumps" back to wherever my pointer is
located. In other words, the text that I'm trying to add to the paragraph
suddenly appears in the wrong place. For whatever reason, this doesn't happen
in every case; I've tried to deal with it, but it has become an increasing
annoyance.

I've tried looking under the mouse options in Control Panel, but I couldn't
find anything. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Try reinstalling/update mouse driver. If the problem continues you may
try with another mouse.

First of all congratulations JL85 for expressing this problem so well.
I have been searching for months (off and on!) for help, as I have the
exact same problem, and it is incredible the way people refer to and
confuse the cursor and the pointer. (Of course it's even more
incredible how the cursor and pointer intermingle with each other).
Anyway.
Did you install a new driver?
Did it fix the problem?

Thanks,
