A alexB Feb 14, 2008 #2 Control Panel>>Hardware and Sound>>Mouse>>Pointer Options>> Either you check: "Display Pointer Trails" or you check: "Show Location of Pointer when I press CTRL key" or both You may also benefit from changing the appearance of your cursor in different settings. Check Pointers Tab and go down to Select, Click Browse, select the pointer you want. I suggest "dinosaur" and double click on it.

S Sally Feb 15, 2008 #3 Not dumb at all -- I have seen several postings about the same problem. Happened to me also. Go to 'Mouse Properties' -'Pointer Options' - then UNCHECK the box for "Display pointer trails". This worked for me.
