Mouse/Keyboard doesnt work!!

Neither my mouse nor keyboard work on my WinXP Pro. Both keybrd and mouse
work in another system. Tried a known working keybrd and mouse in the sick
system and still nothing.
The system boots. But no input (Nothing moved - no physical damage to the
PS2 connector in the back).
This occured after a system restore. I went back to a system state several
days ago when I knew the system was running well.
Am I out of luck? Any suggestions before I remove the drive and slave it to
another system to remove any files I may have not backed up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried a USB keyboard / mouse? could be screwed drivers?
 
Yes I did and it worked just as you suggested - reinstalled keyboard AND
mouse drivers.

Still cant figure out the cause, but at least the system is working.
