Mouse hangs after inactivity

i have a dell inspiron 8200 laptop w/ 256mb ram running winxp sp2. i'm
using the logitech cordless optical mouse w/ latest drivers. i also
used to have win2k on this laptop with the same mouse with no issues.
but, since upgrading to winxp, after a period of inactivity, the mouse
will lag every few seconds. only a reboot will bring it back to normal
functionality. if i use the touchpad for mouse control, i have the
same results so i don't think it's the mouse. it didn't do this while
running win2k so i don't think it's the laptop either. it seems to
point to be something with winxp. anyone seen this or have a fix.
thx.

You are not going to be able to use both the logitech mouse and the touch
pad. They get confused. I spent 75 dollars on a glider touch pad to connect
to my desktop, but I got tired of having to reboot. I just bought a
Microsoft optical and chunked the logitech. I will let you know if the MS
mouse works better with the touch pad.

However, the glider company that makes my touchpad has a message on its
website saying to make the touchpad the only mouse and make sure it is the
only one installed.

Just for the heck of it, you could uninstall the logitech and let xp
reinstall it. But don't use the logitech driver that came with the cd. That
is what I had to do to get the thing to work on my laptop. However, if you
have already installed with the logitech driver, XP will probably put it
back on automatically even after you uninstall it.
