mouse freezes up [squidfoot please reply ]

Hi thanks for replying I am using xp home and my pc is a
sony vaio laptop, the mouse is optical with intelli eye.
The key board pad also freezes so I think it's not a
mouse problem.

Hi,

Try boot in safe mode and check.
If the keyboard and mouse can work properly in safe mode, reboot and select last known good config.
