mouse freezes intermittently using KVM switch

Using XP Pro, the mouse freezes when I switch off to another computer. If it's a quick switch away and back, it only happens maybe 1 in 4 times. If I'm switched away for more than 2 minutes, it freezes every time

I'm using an A4Tech optical mouse, but using the windows driver. when I used the A4 driver and switched the computer would go psychotic. This is a fresh install so I could completely remove the problems caused. The mouse is in the PS2 mouse port

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there someplace I can go for info or patches? The microsoft knowledge base has nothing for me. I saw something on one site about a driver issue, but I can't put in the A4 driver

Thanks for any help you can give me.

This really sounds more like a problem with the KVM, than it does
with the OS. Have you tried switching the two PCs' connections to the
KVM to see if one of its channels is defective? Or have you tried a
different KVM? Does the mouse have a USB-PS/2 adapter where it plugs
into the KVM?

I've got one PC that does this too. None of my other PCs are affected. I
never did cure the one troublesome one. However, if I switch to it and the
mouse is not responding then I find if I click and hold the left mouse
button and then just move the mouse gently in different directions then it
always starts up again and I can carry on regardless.
