I have a KVM switch and a wheel mouse - the KVM switch is ps2 and the mouse
is usb. When I use a ps2 to usb converter on my mouse I lose use of my
wheel button

Andy,

I have worked with KVMs for a few years, and have found
that the ps2-USB or USB-ps2 converter works for the 2
buttons on the mouse unless you buy a converter that
supports the wheel button, aka "3rd" button.

I am in the military and we use Cybex KVM and they don't
support 3rd button at all. As for Radeon KVM it does.

I have a belkin switch and am quite new to this. I have a laptop & desktop
which are networked and I want to use the same keyboard & mouse with both.

So, are you saying that if I buy a converter which supports 3rd button I'm
in business? Where do you suggest I can get one?

Thanks

I also use Belkin and have no problem with my Logitech mouse. The mouse came
with USB to PS/2. One thing I found with the Belkin KVM is that it works
better if you use the optional power supply instead of relying on the power
from keyboard and mouse.

My mouse is microsoft WIRELESS (same with keyboard).
Any reason why the power supply cant be a standard 9v adapter

I guess you could use any power supply as long as it matches the
requirements of the Belkin KVM
