Mouse driver disappearance

I'm trying to recover a PC running WindowsXP for a friend.
Apparently all was well initially until "weird" things
started to happen with the cursor and windows in general.
The mouse driver has disappeared (i.e uninstalled) and a
(unknown!) password has been added to get into the BIOS.
This looks like a virus.
a)Has anyone seen this before? and b) anyone know how to
navigate the cursor using keyboard commands so I can run
some anti-virus software on it?.
Thanks to whoever can help

Sorry, ignore the comment about the password for BIOS -
that was a red herring.

I am having a similar problem and posted some 6 hours ago
about no mouse but haven't seen any replies. Tis a bit
hard to navigate without a mouse but you can use the
keyboard to get around a little bit, trifle slow though.
You will need to use the TAB and arrow keys will get you
where you need to go and use any underscores as much as
possible.
My problem too was a virus and having trouble with
freezing in any program, I have tried to install a serial
and USB mouse to no avail.

Good luck
