Mouse dragging

I have an USB Optical Wheel Mouse with IntelliPoint 5.0
software installed and Windows XP, and this problem has
only happened in XP.

When certain programs are running, the mouse sometimes
begins to skip around the screen; it refreshes its
position about every 1/4 second, and temporarily messes
up normal mouse function. It this a problem with the
driver, the OS, or the software I'm running? Or
something else? Someone I know has also been having this
problem.
 
I have been using the same mouse with XP since the first week of XP
introduction. No problems what so ever. My guess is it is the mouse that is
the problem. Try another mouse. Jym
