Mouse Pointer Speed too slow

The pointer speed of my MS Wheel Mouse Optical is too slow. The pointer
speed bar is set at max. My Intellipoint Version is 6.10.156. I'm running
WinXP Pro on a new Dell XPS710.

I have a second Dell with Win2000 - and mouse version 4.00.0657. It's mouse
speed is ok {normal/fast}

Both PCs use the same model of mouse {I've switched mice - same}.

I'm considering uninstalling version 6.10 and installing version 4.12 {which
I was able to download off the 'net}.

What can/should I do to speed up my mouse?

Thanks - james

Try this: right click on My Computer\Manage\Device Manager\Mouse & pointing
devices\right click and select Uninstall.. next go to Action menu\Search for
new hardware. It should help to reinstall the mouse driver. If no change,
repeat and this time restart the computer... if still no change, and the
mouse works fine on the other computer, install another version of the mouse
driver.

Search for the right mouse driver here.

Ronaldo, thanks for your reply. I do have the latest version mouse driver
from MS. I'm think maybe an older version {like the one in my older Dell}
might be the ticket. I had planned {only} to go to Add/Remove programs on
Control Panel and remove the MS software. Maybe {also} uninstalling the
driver from Device Manager might be a good way to go.

Thanks - james

Either way is likely to work.. you could install version 4 or 5 or reinstall
version 6. Try uninstalling it first so the system reinstalls it... if no
results, install a previous version, either 4 or 5 should do fine.

I did uninstall 6.1 and installed 4.12. It worked - mouse can now outrun a
rat. Additionally, I realized ver 4.12 still offered the ability to set the
scroll wheel to 'one page.' That feature was discontinued by the time 6.1
was introduced. james
