Often my mouse is locked up or frozen when I start up my computer on XP Pro. The only option I have is to reboot my system when this occurs. Occasionally it will do this lock up even after my first reboot, but so far it hasn't happened after my second reboot. The funny thing is that my mouse is a 4 year old Microsoft Intellimouse 1.1A so I should think it would work fine with XP Pro, go figure! The only other thing I believe could be causing this is that perhaps it's old and time for a new mouse
I just upgraded to XP from 98 and had erratic (psychotic!) mouse problems. Had the problem in 98 also. The drive clicks for a second, then Start opens, then any movement of the mouse acts like a button click and the cursor moves around the edge of the screen and it opens anything at random and even tries to boot me off the net. Another drive click and back to normal. Could be my old Award Bios version (?). What is your situation ie mouse type, age of machine, etc.?
