So you are attempting to do the Repair Install? It isn't done yet?
If you have a PS/2 mouse and keyboard, try USB ones and vice versa. If your
computer only has USB connections (no PS/2), then put the mouse and
keyboard in USB slots 1 and 2 on the back of the computer. Some Dells will
only recognize USB outside of Windows if you do this. If you have one of
these Dells, the USB connections are numbered.
Borrow a PS/2 mouse and keyboard and use those. When you have your chipset
and other drivers reinstalled, then try the (probably) USB mouse and keyboard
that you were originally using.
Does the keyboard work to enter the BIOS and make changes there? If it does,
boot to a Knoppix disk and see if they work while running Knoppix. If they
work with Knoppix and and not with Windows, you have a problem with Windows.
If they don't work with Knoppix, then there is a hardware problem. You did
test the PS/2 and USB mice and keyboards on another computer to see if they
work?
Yes I tested them and also they work when the computer boots up because I can
press f8 and enter and move the mouse around but they stop working when it
gets to the windows installation.
