Have a problem loading XP home (2002) on a 2005 Dell computer with usb port
keyboard & mouse connections. Program will not recognize keyboard or mouse
response at the setup slection screen of (setup xp, repair with recovery
console, or quit setup). Is there a work around or do I need to purchase a
new version of XP that will recognize the usb ports on setup? If so what
version of XP will solve this problem?

No, at this point in the installation, it's purely a hardware
configuration issue. What you need to do is configure the PC's BIOS to
enable "Legacy USB Support," so that the motherboard will treat the USB
keyboard and mouse as standard PS/2 devices until WinXP is installed and
can load the specific USB device drivers required by your specific
motherboard.
