Monitor won't turn on

Hi, i burned a dvd last night and after my pc crashed and didn't turn off. i swiched the power off and when i turn my pc on it all powers up fine but the monitor stays on standby. Can anyone help? thanks

As Rush said, it's likely the graphic card gone kaput or the Monitor itself is faulty. There is also an outside chance it could be the motherboard.

And and yet another outside chance it could be the VGA lead.

Only way to find out is a process of elimination substituting components. First thing to do is try another known working monitor, then take it from there.

By the way, is the monitor's power light/led on?

presumably the monitor has power but no signal
